This fruity cocktail is completed with Pop Goes Sangria as the "cherry on top" making a delicious double dose of Sangria.

POPPIN MERLOT SANGRIA INGREDIENTS:

1 Pitcher Serves 4-6 glasses

  • 1 Cup Red Apples (Medium Slices)
  • 1 Cup Peaches (Medium Slices)
  • 1 Cup Blood Orange (Thinly Sliced)
  • 1 Cup Seedless Red Grapes
  • 1.5 Litres of Red Wine (Our choice: Peller Family Vineyards Cabernet Merlot 1.5L)
  • Eatable Pop Goes Sangria Popcorn
  • Pure Maple Syrup (optional for sweetening)
  • Cinnamon Sticks to Garnish

Tip for selecting the perfect red wine for Sangria:

When selecting a red wine for Sangria, look for a red wine with low levels of tannin.

Tannins are compounds found in grape seeds, stems and skin that can make wine taste bitter. A great sangria hints notes of fresh fruit. The wine should be complementary to the fruits you are infusing as well. Cabernet Sauvignon, for example, is a wine high in tannins.

Steps and Instructions:

STEP #1
Chill your bottle of red wine for 3-4 hours.

STEP #2
Add the sliced apples, sliced peaches, sliced blood oranges and grapes to a large pitcher.

STEP #3
Add a tablespoon of maple syrup, or however much you'd like to taste (optional for sweetening).

STEP #4
Add chilled red wine to the pitcher and begin to stir.

STEP #5
Store the pitcher of fruits infused with wine for 24 hours (48 hours for a stronger fruit flavour)

STEP #6
Serve with ice and top with some extra infused fruits and Eatable Pop Goes Sangria popcorn for garnish.

STEP #7
Enjoy with more Pop Goes Sangria Popcorn on the side!

There it is - the perfect summer sangria recipe! Deliciously fruity and cool for those nights on the backyard patio. You could even try and make this warm on a saucepan for winter!
